Title

Decreto ateniese per l'isola di Andro

Abstract (max. 650 characters with spaces included)

La stele riporta un decreto ateniese del 357/6 che predispone misure economiche e militari per Andro, alleata di Atene: il finanziamento di una guarnigione già presente sull’isola tramite le syntaxeis degli alleati; l’invio di uno stratego; l’incarico di raccogliere il denaro dalle isole vicine. Questo rappresenterebbe una dichiarata infrazione dello statuto della Seconda lega ateniese, che proibiva il ritorno alle pratiche della Lega delio-attica. Il documento, nel contesto Guerra Sociale, deve essere considerato, invece, come la comunicazione di una decisione richiesta e condivisa con gli Alleati volta alla sicurezza di Andro.

Stele; white pentelic marble; 35,9 × 39,5 × 8 cm. Fragmentary, la stele è mutila del lato destro e della parte inferiore. La superficie risulta rovinata. La stele presenta sul lato superiore un abbozzo di frontone, probabilmente andato distrutto.

Sotto l'arcontato di Agatocle. Nella nona pritania della tribù Egeide, durante la quale Diodoto, figlio di Diocle di Angele, era segretario. L'ottavo giorno della nona pritania. […] tra i proedri mise la questione ai voti. La Boule e il Demos decisero. […] propose: affinché Andro sia salva per il Demos di Atene e il Demos di Andro, e affinché le truppe della guarnigione ad Andro ricevano il pagamento dalle syntaxeis secondo le decisioni degli alleati, e la guarnigione non venga sciolta, venga nominato uno stratego tra coloro che sono stati eletti; e l’uomo nominato dovrà gestire [Andro]; e Archedemo dovrà riscuotere le somme dovute dalle isole per i soldati [ad Andro] e consegnarle all’[archon di] Andro, affinché i soldati ricevano la loro paga …
